Brewing cacao is a beverage crafted from roasted, ground whole cacao beans, prepared similarly to coffee. It offers a rich, dark chocolate flavor while containing less caffeine than coffee. This drink is often regarded as a healthier choice due to its high levels of antioxidants and minerals, such as magnesium. Additionally, it contains theobromine, which provides a gentle energy lift without the subsequent crash.
You can brew cacao using methods like a French press or a coffee maker, and it can be enjoyed on its own or personalized with milk, cream, or sweeteners.
To brew, use 2 to 4 tablespoons of brewing cacao per 8-ounce cup of boiling water. Allow it to steep for 4 to 5 minutes, then strain or press and savor the flavor. *Note that over-brewing may lead to astringent and unpleasant flavors.
